Boring, unmotivated

I haven't even watched the show but I find her cute.

Recently I've been playing a lot of video games. No really, I've been spending more time on them than usual. I don't know what it is, it feels like my body wants to do this more than anything else. It's not like I'm playing the same video games either. I keep playing random things, maybe revisiting the same game after a couple days but I can't seem to commit to one game. I'm not sure if I'm going through some sort of phase. Is it because I'm unsatisfied with life? Again, I'm not sure.

Hmm, Toonami is going to start up again and I'm not too ecstatic about that. It's something that should've been left alone since that time period has passed already. I mean, I've felt that TV was obsolete two years ago. Yet people still want this block back for some reason. I understand, for some it's fuel for extreme nostalgia. But if you look at it objectively, you'll see that it's not really a bright idea. This is all my opinion though so I might sound full of shit. It just seems like people need to learn to let go of the past.

I'm starting to feel a bit unmotivated right now. It could be a number of factors but I personally blame the hot weather. I usually don't feel like doing anything during this time since being hot is very unpleasant. I'm also a bit sick so it only makes it worse.

That's it for now.

Boring, boring, and Spring anime

It's been two weeks so you'd think that I have something interesting to talk about but I don't. I will say that I've been tackling too much backlog at once. Not only that, I also need to stay on top of things with current anime.

I love pictures like these.

I finished Mirai Nikki. I wasn't planning to watch this back in Fall but I ended up having to watch it. I wasn't into it at first. It was mostly the fact that the side characters are much more interesting than the two main characters. Yuno was good but she wasn't excellent and Yuki annoyed the hell out of me. Sadly, I had a hard time getting through this show. It became a, "Damn, I have to watch THIS now." situation. But something happened a few episodes into the second cour of the show and Yuki manned the fuck up. This was when the show became awesome and I started to have a good time with it. Though, the last four episodes felt very bland to me. The ending was just that, an ending. It was nice and I don't know how they could've made it better. I did hear that they changed it from the manga version, though I doubt that's any better. This was an okay show with some awesome parts but not entirely worth it for me. It had a lot of great concepts and characters but I felt like they didn't utilize them correctly.

Here are the shows I'm watching this season.

Accel World - One that I was looking forward to. I'm liking it so far and Kuroyukihime is cute.

Eureka Seven Ao - The sequel to "everybody acts like a fucking brat" the anime. I have a lot of thoughts on the first series but I won't into it. Merely picked it up out of curiosity and I know it'll stir up a storm since it's BONES and it's a season 2.

Fate/Zero part 2 - Kind of obvious so I'll spare details.

Hyouka -  Haven't seen anything about this but the promotional art. I've been looking forward to this as well. It's KyoAni so you can't go wrong there.

Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? of the Dead - I was looking forward to this. First season was great and second season is always welcome.

Medaka Box - I knew about the manga and always wanted to get around to it. Anime got announced so I decided to just go with that.

Nazo no Kanojo X - Manga had popularity and I wanted to see what it was about.

Ozuma -  Considering that this is almost over, I'm not sure if I should include this here. Thoughts on this soon.

Sakamichi no Apollon -  The new Watanabe work and it shows. Also, I forgot this was an anime about music so that was a great surprise.

Sankarea - Again, I wanted to read the manga but anime was announced. I like the visual style of this.  It kind of has this goth feel to it.

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia - Picked this up out of impulse and was pleasantly surprised. Having lots of fun with this.

Uchuu Kyoudai - A great story about following your dreams. Good mix of comedy and drama.

Zetman - Picked up on a whim as well. I heard that the show changed a lot from the source material but I don't really care. The show seemed great and that's all that matters.

As I said, I have a lot on my plate currently. There are other shows that I wish I could watch as well but I just can't. Oh well, can't be helped.

More Winter anime thoughts

I'm still trying to fix my sleep schedule. I hate waking up at this hour. I guess I'll talk about some more series that ended.

Kawaii overload

I mentioned that I picked up Inu x Boku SS on impulse and I'm glad I did. Just like Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou, this was another personal favorite this season. So many HHNNNGG moments and the comedy was nice too. It had a theme of Japanese mythological creatures but the show made it seem unnecessary. The ending tied it nicely but it felt like more could've been added. A second season would be nice. Overall, great fun and I wouldn't mind going for a rewatch.

Next we have Amagami SS+ plus. It was a good addendum to the first series. More interactions between the characters are always welcome. Of course, there were more hijinks as well as some much needed conflict in the arcs. I would like to add that I enjoyed how Rihoko's arc ended. Deal with it.

Mr. Swag

Let's move on to Persona 4. A good adaptation of the game and the liberties it took were welcome. The first few episodes seemed bland but it soon picked up pace and delivered. There were a few things cut out but it didn't really matter. Also, there were events in the game that got placed in different/weird places in the anime. It did a good job of handling the serious drama scenes as well as delivering comedy at the right places. I wouldn't recommend going into this without playing the game first. The whole series felt like icing on the cake for people that already played it.

I also saw the second season of Bakuman. The series is about a duo pursuing their dream of being the #1 mangaka. When I saw the first season I was amazed at how fired up it got me. Season two dealt with more of the drama SoL side of things rather than the manga side. It was still extremely enjoyable and the end really got to me. Season three was announced at the end so I'll be looking forward to that.

more Ririchiyo is never a bad thing

Mirai Nikki is the last series left to finish. I need to finish Milky Holmes S2 but I'll get to it when I can. Gundam Seed HD is still airing but I think I'll wait until the BDs are out so I can finish it. I'll announce what I'm watching for Spring once I've solidified my choices.

Some winter anime thoughts and boring stuff

I had another post prepared for last week but it was shit so I deleted it. I guess I'll talk about current anime that just finished.

Let's start with Nisemonogatari. It was great and enjoyable even though it wasn't as good as the first series. It felt like it was going nowhere and there was MUCH more fanservice throughout. But of course, the journey is much more interesting than the destination. If you liked the first series then you'll appreciate this as a fun ride with little substance.

Black Rock Shooter was pretty bad and I always went in with the "let's get this over with" mentality. The story content was so uninteresting to me. I've seen a lot of people enjoy this, which makes me feel like I'm not getting something here. If anybody else watched it, please tell me what you thought of it. I really want to like this even if it's just a little bit more.

Alright, I know some people want to hear what I thought about Guilty Crown. Short answer: it's SHIT. I won't talk too much about this since I'm pretty sure you've heard it all. Cliches turned up to maximum, scenes that were cheesier than cheese, and plot holes the size of my shoe. To be honest, it was enjoyable sometimes. The first half was probably the worst since a lot of scenes made me cringe but at least there was some character development. Even if it was bad. It makes me wonder how this even exists and why the creators didn't look at this and say "Whoa, this is shit!" There is one good use for this series though. I highly recommend this to anybody that is involved in storytelling (writer, director, etc.). This show is a good guidebook on how NOT to make a story.

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou was a great comedy. This is probably my favorite show this season. I'll admit that the earlier episodes were a bit weaker but I always came out with a smile every time. I even went as far as to watch some episodes twice. A bit sad to see it go since it really brightened my day. The series isn't for everyone since the comedy is rather love it or hate it. You'll know whether you like it or not by watching it. There was an announcement of a season two but the idea sounds too good to be true. Apparently, we'll have more info on this in April.

Now we come to Another pie. The show had problems with characterization and focused too much on the "curse". Because of this, the characters felt a bit flat. Despite its flaws I still enjoyed it a lot, especially the ending. There several questions raised but I'm fine with it. It was enjoyable and that's all I could've asked for.

There are more series that I'm watching but haven't ended yet. I'll write my thoughts on those later.

Why did you guys choose twintails?

I've been trying to fix my sleep schedule for the past two weeks. It's hard to stay up when you don't want to. I don't like this. FUCK!

I've been playing Armored Core For Answer. It's fucking awesome holy shit. A much more face paced game than its predecessors. The mechs look more anime-styled and prioritizes the laser sword. I love it. I bought the Japanese version so it's even better with my orders voiced in Japanese. Just like my Japanese anime.
